At Being Human Club, I offer specialized trauma-informed yoga therapy sessions designed to support individuals on their healing journey and work as a complement to their therapeutic work. These groups provide a safe, nurturing environment where participants can reconnect with their bodies, process emotions, and develop self-compassion. Whether you’re recovering from trauma, navigating stress and anxiety, or seeking greater inner peace, these trauma-informed yoga groups offer a mindful, somatic approach to healing.
What is Trauma-Informed Yoga?
Trauma-informed yoga integrates principles of psychology, mindfulness, and yoga to create a healing space that honours each individual’s unique experience. We focus on cultivating safety, awareness, and embodiment through gentle movement, invitation, breathwork, and interoception (tuning into your inner sensations). Our sessions empower participants to regain control over their physical and emotional well-being.
Benefits of Trauma-Informed Yoga:
Enhanced Mind-Body Connection: Learn how to reconnect with your body in a gentle and supportive way.
Emotional Regulation: Develop skills for managing difficult emotions and stress.
Empowerment: Experience greater self-compassion and confidence in your body through mindful movement.
Safe, Non-Judgmental Space: We prioritize creating a space where you can move at your own pace and explore what feels safe for you.
Who Should Attend?
Our trauma-informed yoga groups are perfect for anyone who:
Is recovering from trauma, PTSD, or anxiety.
Wants to develop a healthier relationship with their body.
Seeks a therapeutic approach to yoga focused on healing and self-compassion.
Desires a community of support in their healing journey.
Starting again in the new year, I am facilitating group movement workshops at my office, located within the Being Human Club in Calgary, AB. The cost of each session is $25, but if finances are a concern, please don't hesitate to reach out — I'd love to have you join us, regardless of your financial situation.
About Being Human Club:
Being Human Club is a safe and inclusive space that is feminist & trauma-informed, LGBTQ2S+ affirming, and anti-racist and intentional about social justice work. As a mental health practitioner at Being Human Club, I am committed to giving back to the community by creating accessible and trauma-informed practices for individuals to come together and heal.
Workshop Structure:
Each workshop begins with a brief introduction to the evening's theme, covering key concepts of somatic therapy and trauma-informed yoga. We’ll explore topics such as mindfulness, nonjudgmental awareness of the present moment, interoception (connecting to internal sensory experiences), and the importance of choice in movement. Our focus will be on understanding how to use the body's wisdom to make empowered, effective choices.
The heart of the workshop features a 40-minute movement practice designed for all levels, whether you're new to yoga or experienced. This practice blends somatic exercises with restorative yoga postures, creating a space for empowerment, peacefulness, and self-connection through mindful movement.
We’ll wrap up with a cozy tea session, where you’ll have time for self-reflection through journaling and a closing circle with optional sharing.
Join Us:
Come and be part of a supportive community where you can find empowerment and healing through trauma-informed yoga. We would love to have you.
When everything closed throughout the years of the pandemic, and mental health was very much affected worldwide, I was inspired to share my yoga practice online.
I believe that belonging is a human need, and community is key to healing. I hope that this content offers you the grace to navigate the current ups and downs of life while allowing you to find connection within, even when the ground feels unsteady.
